The Design Process

Every project is unique and as an Interior Designer I can be brought in at any point. That being said, I get involved early in the conceptual process before breaking ground for the beginning of the project. Outlined below defines each phase and description of my design process.

New Design Consult

This is the first step whether you are looking for a one time meeting to help guide you in the right direction or if you are ready to move forward with a full design package. This meeting is to help you get on track to start your project. This meeting is to answer questions you have about your space with basic design guidance to personalize your new space.

Concept and Inspiration

Knowing what my client likes and dislikes are is the first step and is extremely beneficial when it comes to being on the same page. Many clients have Pinterest boards or Houzz vision boards and I like to take a look at these before starting a concept board to gather inspiration of my own. I then gather concepts together for each room, before getting started on selections so that my client has a vision of what to expect.

Space Planning and AutoCAD Drafting

AutoCAD drafting is essential for the client to visualize their space. It is also needed to provide direction to contractors and for the bidding process. This is my favorite part of design because it is so crucial to the designing process.

Finishing Touches

The finishing touches of furniture, window treatment, art and accessories are what brings a room together. I plan out each detail in elevations and space planning, design custom pieces, as well as selecting and procuring product.

Materials and Selections

All the attached finish selections such as cabinetry, tile, paint, flooring, lighting, countertops, fixtures and hardware gets selected at this time. Detailed specs and plans are sent to the client and appropriate vendors, contractors, subcontractors, etc.

Project Overview

Before construction begins I get concepts, specifications and schematics on paper with clear instructions for the contractors. Project overview helps ensure those instructions are followed through and to assist when questions arise with construction. What helps the original concept come to fruition are weekly site visits, continued project management and timely product ordering.
